About

On a rural working farm at the heart of Fife, the Cottage sleeps up to 16 or divides into self contained apartments for individuals or smaller groups. There are 6 cabins sleeping up to 5 each in peace, comfort and style. Wilderness camping with comforts is availble April-October. Bissett's Barn open all year round with hot tub, sensory room and full body changing-place. Available to locals as well as those travelling.

This farm diversification began as a simple idea to provide a cottage with a ceiling track hoist but resulted in the completion of The Rings cottage in 2016.  In 2018, Moira was awarded an MBE for services to Accessible Tourism in Fife. The Rings now includes a uniquely dividable cottage with 8 fully accessible bedrooms with ensuite wetrooms.

The cottage is fully inclusive of those with access needs providing hoists, profiling beds and equipment such as shower chairs; but you don’t have to break a leg to come and stay, they don’t discriminate against you if you don’t have a disability!

Upon realising that they were not “Enabling holidays for all” as their strapline suggested. David and Moira gathered a wish-list from potential customers and used it to design 6 bespoke built cabins which are intended to be a safe-space for holiday makers with neurodiversities or behavioural conditions. Two of the cabins are also wheelchair accessible to meet the needs of families with more than one type of additional need.

As part of the cabins development, a huge barn was built. This provides an indoor secure play space for all ages, including adult-sized children who need to “let off steam”. Within the space there is a small sensory room, full body changing place, and hot tub room with ceiling track hoist.

The barn doubles as facilities for the wilderness camping “with comforts” provided from March until October. It houses showers and toilets as well as a small kitchen space with microwave and kettles. It is the quiet, peaceful, family atmosphere which attracts many first-time campers to stay there and they have a very high demand in summer with cyclists as we are on the Fife Cycle Route.

The barn is also used seasonally for events such as the popular “Lambing experiences” where visitors can meet the lambs and learn about this important and busy time of year. Posters have been created to help share the information and even those in wheelchairs can hold a lamb and bottle feed it if they want to. Special schools, nurseries and home school groups have been particularly interested in these events.
