Here are the big hitters you won’t want to miss:
St Andrews Links (The Old Course)
The most iconic golf course in the world, the Old Course at St Andrews is where the game was born. It’s home to the legendary Swilcan Bridge, Hell Bunker, and the famous 17th Road Hole. It can be tricky to book a tee time due to its popularity, but there is a ballot system which you can enter on St Andrews Links website. (https://standrews.com/request-a-tee-time)
Kingsbarns Golf Links, near St Andrews
A stunning modern links course with breathtaking coastal views, Kingsbarns is a favourite among pros and amateurs alike. It’s a regular stop on the annual Dunhill Links Championship.
Dumbarnie Links, Upper Largo
A newer addition to Fife’s golf scene, Dumbarnie Links has quickly gained a reputation for its spectacular design and playability. It offers a mix of traditional links feel with modern course design. Dumbarnie offers a unique starting proposition, a shot of Scotch whisky on the first tee for all players! Please note, this is closed during the winter months.
The Castle Course (St Andrews Links)
One of the newest St Andrews courses, The Castle Course sits on cliffs overlooking St Andrews Bay. It’s a dramatic and challenging layout with undulating greens.
Lundin Golf Club, Lundin Links
A lesser-known gem, Lundin is a classic links course with a mix of seaside and inland holes. It’s a great test of strategy and shot-making.
Elie Golf Club
A quirky but fantastic course, Elie is famous for its periscope at the first tee and scenic seaside layout. It’s short but challenging with fast-running fairways.
