Rail

The 19 stations in Fife are managed by ScotRail, who operate 95% of the passenger train services in Scotland.

The railway network is currently undergoing investment to improve reliability and a better overall journey experience. Trains and stations are being refurbished and planned enhancements include waiting rooms and upgraded lighting.

The network in Fife comprises railway lines from Edinburgh travelling north to Dundee and Aberdeen or Perth and Inverness, with the ScotRail line looping to connect towns in Fife.

More than ten towns in Fife are just minutes from each other on the Fife Circle Line, meaning travelling from one town to another is simple.

The East Coast and CrossCountry lines link Fife with Aberdeen, Perth and Inverness to the north, Edinburgh (from there to Glasgow and the west) and London to the south. From Edinburgh, passengers can also join the First TransPennnine Express and Virgin Trains routes.

From train to bus

You can buy a special ticket on all trains that allows you to continue your journey on a local bus when you reach your destination station, ask for a PlusBus ticket.
