This is one of two options, with a guided walk approaching St Andrews from the other direction [see separate listing].
On this bike ride, you need to bring your own bicycle, helmet and appropriate clothing.
The section to the Tay Bridge runs along the sparsely populated North Coast of Fife.The landscape and the resulting land use in this part of Fife are quite different from the rest of the county. We will then follow the cycle path along the old railway line to Tayport Common, where there are great views across the river to Broughty Ferry Castle. From there we’ll enter Tentsmuir Forest, home to a diverse variety of wildlife including birds, bats, red squirrels and butterflies.The long-distance trail parallels the coast here, where the coast is actually growing due to deposits from the Tay! After the forest it goes along a boardwalk through Earlshall Muir, the last remnant of the extensive wild dune lands that once dominated this coast. We’ll head into Leuchars with its fine 12th century Romanesque church then on cycle paths through Guardbridge and on to St Andrews.The town itself has many historic and tourist attractions, not least the Old Course, St Andrews Castle and the beautiful beaches, East Sands, Castle Sands and West Sands. Beach of Dreams is a UK-wide coastal arts festival that explores the unique heritage, culture and climate future of our coastline. Fife Coast and Countryside Trust are delighted that Fife is the Scottish location for this creative programme. Presented by Kinetika, Beach of Dreams sees acclaimed and emerging artists commissioned UK-wide to create works to help local communities connect with the natural environment. In Fife, artist Julie Brook will create a tidal sculpture from locally sourced materials, inspired by walks along the Fife coastline and talks with residents and artists. She will also lead workshops with local schools and community groups in partnership with ArtMovesFife.
Please note that this is a one-way bike ride. The end time is approximate, based on fitness levels and refreshment stops. If you need to use public transport please plan in advance. St Andrews is well served for bus services and Leuchars railway station is 5.5 miles away by road. Please bring your own refreshments as there is no guarantee we will stop near shops or cafés.

This will ensure we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list. Nearer the event date we will email all participants with details of the meeting place. If you cancel your tickets, which have an associated payment/donation, you will be responsible for paying the Eventbrite administration fee.
