The FCCT team will lead you on an 8 mile walk starting at Cambo Gardens and taking in beautiful Cambo Sands, or Kingsbarns Beach. From there, the route hugs the coastal slopes between rocky shore and farmland to Boarhills. From Boarhills to St Andrews may be the roughest of the whole route and will be walked at low tide.Buddo Rock is a prominent geological feature, an impressive stack of pink sandstone. Further along the same section, you will find the Rock and Spindle, the weathered remains of a volcanic plug. From there, the path leaves the beach and climbs a flight of steps to Kinkell Ness. Then it descends to the final destination, St Andrews! Here we will meet with those journeying along the Fife Coastal Path from the Newburgh direction.

The town itself has many historic and tourist attractions, not least the Old Course, St Andrews Castle and the beautiful beaches, East Sands, Castle Sands and West Sands. Keep an eye on our social media and website for news of a celebration at St Andrews to mark the end of our Fife Coastal Path journey for Beach of Dreams.

Beach of Dreams is a UK-wide coastal arts festival that explores the unique heritage, culture and climate future of our coastline. Fife Coast and Countryside Trust are delighted that Fife is the Scottish location for this creative programme. Presented by Kinetika, Beach of Dreams sees acclaimed and emerging artists commissioned UK-wide to create works to help local communities connect with the natural environment. In Fife, artist Julie Brook will create a tidal sculpture from locally sourced materials, inspired by walks along the Fife coastline and talks with residents and artists. She will also lead workshops with local schools and community groups in partnership with ArtMovesFife.

Important Information: Please note that this is a one-way walk. The end time is approximate and depends on fitness levels and refreshments stops. The section of path is rough, narrow and has steep sections. It requires great care. If you need to use public transport please plan in advance using local buses. St Andrews is well served for bus services and Leuchars railway station is 5.5 miles away by road. Please bring your own refreshments as there is no guarantee that we will stop for lunch near shops and cafés.

If you book places but then can't attend, please let us know by cancelling your ticket on Eventbrite, or by emailing ask.us@fifecountryside.co.uk or phoning 01592 656080. This will ensure we can offer your place to someone on the waiting list. Nearer the event date we will email all participants with details of the meeting place. If you cancel your tickets, which have an associated payment/donation, you will be responsible for paying the Eventbrite administration fee.
