About

Climate FORTH invite you to discover Scotland’s rich history and industrial heritage on two wheels as you go 'Round the Inner Forth'. Following National Cycle Network Route 76 along the shores of the Inner Forth Estuary, the route starts at the Forth Bridges, traveling through the area's impressive landscapes to Culross and Stirling, before turning back via Blackness.

The whole route is a 2-day pedal, offering something for all tastes: iconic landscapes, spectacular wildlife and fascinating built heritage to name a few. For those wanting a shorter experience, one of 6 carefully crafted day trip routes might be a better option. These can be downloaded from our website HERE. Be sure to check out our video of the route for some inspiration! Visit Climate FORTH's YouTube Channel HERE

Another option, if you don't want to cycle all of the route, is to try the FREE Inner Forth Bike Bus. It runs every Sunday until 27th October 2024 and, while the bus is primarily aimed at cyclists and those wanting to travel with their bike, walkers are also welcome to board the bus and make use of the service.

The route is operated by PVT Transfer and it runs between Alloa and the Forth Road Bridges. Various drop-off and pick-up points along the way including Valleyfield, in front of The Inn at Charlestown, Dunfermline (station car park) and North Queensferry.

With space for regular bikes, trikes, and other non-standard cycles, too, the Bike Bus can accommodate up to twelve cycles, depending on size and type. With many of the stops positioned within proximity to the newly launched ‘Round the Inner Forth’ cycle route, too, there is a multitude of route options for cyclists and walkers using the service.

The concept of the Inner Forth Bike Bus has been developed to encourage local people - and visitors to the area – to make greener decisions when traveling and exploring, as opposed to automatically using a car. Stops have been selected to be as convenient as possible, within walking distance of villages, towns and – where possible – close to existing public transport links.

Hop on board the Inner Forth Bike Bus this summer!
