About

With two spacious king-size bedrooms and one cosy double, The Old Jewellers provides a peaceful retreat after a day of adventure. The home features a modern bathroom, a well-equipped dining kitchen, and a spacious living room with a dining area – perfect for sharing meals and making memories.

Step outside into the secure, south-facing private garden, where you can enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine or unwind in the evening with a barbeque and glass of wine in the summer house. The cottage and garden are pet-friendly, making it easy to bring your pet along for the trip. Plus, if you’re heading out for a round of golf or a cycling trip, there’s an inside secure storage area to keep your equipment safe.

The Old Jewellers holds a deep, personal connection to its owners, with a rich history tied to the Waldrum family. The name honours Thomas Waldrum, a skilled watchmaker and jeweller born in 1866, who ran his shop from this very building until his death in 1930. His daughter Mary, born in the cottage in 1912, lived here her entire life, passing away in 2005.  The original entrance to Thomas Waldrum’s Jeweller’s and Watchmaker’s shop was located between the two front lounge windows, where customers once stepped inside to browse delicate timepieces and fine jewellery. Thomas’s workshop was situated at No. 52, now a cosy lounge where guests can unwind and soak in the character and charm still embedded in the cottage’s walls. The Waldrum family lived next door at No.54, which now forms the front and rear bedrooms of the cottage. Although the property now solely operates under No.52, the echoes of its fascinating history remain.

Nestled on the edge of the Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve, Tayport is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Tentsmuir Forest & Beach – Just a short drive from the cottage, this stunning nature reserve offers miles of golden sand, scenic walking and cycling trails, and a chance to spot local wildlife, including seals basking on the shore. From April to December, Salt & Pine Creperie is the ultimate treat – serving up delicious crepes that are simply too good to resist! You’ll find them right beside the playpark.
