Is a cosy pub lunch on the menu for you this Autumn?

1 .

The Boar's Head, Auchtermuchty

The Boar's Head is a gem of a country pub and restaurant found in the quaint village of Auchtermuchty. Expect traditional pub grub with a modern twist and a carefully created menu offering a variety of beautifully presented dishes made from the freshest locally sourced ingredients. Sit by the cosy fire in the bar area, where dogs are vey welcome, or the tastefully decorated restaurant oozing country vibes. The well stocked bar has a fantastic selection of local drinks as well as fabulous cocktails.

Open Wednesday to Sunday.

2 .

The Crusoe, Lower Largo

Lower Largo is famed for being the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the ‘real’ Robinson Crusoe, and where The Cruseo takes its name. They pride themselves on not just producing great food, but also working with suppliers to give you the best local produce, including beef from Fife farmers or lobster landed along the East Neuk Coast. Menus change regularly to reflect the season.

Enjoy a pub lunch in the cosy 'Seaside bar' followed by a walk along the Fife Coastal Path. We can't think of a better way to spend the weekend.

3 .

Kinneuchar Inn, Kilconquhar

The Kinneuchar Inn is a 17th-century country pub and restaurant which champions great food in an intimate setting, recently awarded Best Local Restaurant in Scotland 2023 by The Good Food Guide. Expect a roaring fire in the bar/snug area and a daily changing 'a la carte' menu, based on ingredients sourced from the Balcaskie Estate and a handful of carefully curated partners.

Open Wednesday to Sunday.

4 .

The Covenanter, Falkland

The Covenanter Hotel in Falkland has a long and dramatic past, with records suggesting trade started as early as 1880. In recent times the hotel has featured in the hit TV series Outlander. The bar area is small but cosy and dog friendly serving a delicious menu of homemade dishes.

5 .

Red Lion Inn, Culross

Step back in time and visit Culross, one of Scotland's most picturesque villages and also popular with Outlander fans. The Red Lion Inn is a cosy inn serveing a classic pub-style menu as well as global favourites, daily specials and real ales. It does get busy, so it's a good idea to book ahead. While you're there, explore the cobbled streets and visit the ochre-coloured palace.

Open 7 days a week, 12-9pm. Dog friendly.

6 .

The Jigger Inn, St Andrews

The Jigger Inn dates back to the 1850s, when it was the stationmaster’s lodge. Expect a cosy vibe with crackling open-hearth fires, a simple menu of home-cooked food as well as a superb selection of Scottish beers. It even serves it’s own Jigger Ale. And as you would expect in the Home of Golf, it houses golfing memorabilia.

7 .

West End Bar, Pittenweem

Expect a warm welcome at the West End Bar, with an open log fire and cosy tartan blankets you can help yourself to. Choose from an excellent selection of drinks including locally brewed beers like Ovenstone 109 real ale on draught, Scottish gins, malt whiskies and good wines. Chef-owner Tim, makes use of Fife’s produce and larder in his home-cooked dishes, keeping provenance and sustainability at the forefront of the menu. The menu changes with the seasons but often features vegetables from East Neuk Market Garden and seafood from John Imrie in St Monans.

Closed Tuesday, check website for opening times. Dogs are also made very welcome.
