££ - Heathland
This 18-hole championship course is located in natural heathland, surrounded by established trees, gorse and heather and with stunning panoramic views over the town of St. Andrews and the bay beyond.
Designed by five-time Open Champion Peter Thomson, the thrill of risk-and-reward golf is threaded through all 18 holes at The Duke’s. As a result, since the course opened in 1995, it’s hosted a series of elite tournaments, including the Scottish Matchplay, the Scottish Strokeplay, The European Amateur Championships and the Scottish Men’s Amateur Open.
From the tee, the fairway bunker on the left side of the fairway is the best line. It provides a great angle to lay up on the right side, which opens up the approach to the green. The approach is well protected by bunker complexes short right and greenside left.
