Course of choice of many Fife and St Andrews golfers, Strathtyrum may not be as demanding as St Andrews championship courses but it still requires skills and expertise.

The Strathtyrum opened in 1993 and is the shortest of St Andrews Links’ 18 Hole courses. Strathtyrum’s bunkers have been strategically located to provide potentially game-changing hazards at every hole, while the greens can also pose a challenge to the unprepared golfer.

However, this is a course that was primarily designed for enjoyment – and Strathtyrum certainly fulfils that requirement for the many golfers who play there regularly or during a visit to the Home of Golf.

Strathtyrum Course

HOLE 1 PAR 4. S.I. 5/12

The tee shot should be aimed to the left half of the fairway. Shared with the 17th, the severe mounding around the green will deflect any misjudged approach.

Prepare to play our course

The Strathtyrum Course may be one of the shorter ones at the Home of Golf, but it still knows how to defend itself. You’ll need your iron game to be sharp if you’re looking to post a low score.

The par 3s seem straightforward but are well guarded with both slopes and bunkers. It’s best to aim centre of the green.

The par 5s are very reachable with a good drive. Catching a piece of the fairway is key.

There are some tricky greens out there, be sure you’re focussed with the putter.

what golfers say

This is a course to be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities and ages. The medium to high handicapper will delight in reaching some of the tricky par 4s in regulation; and the low handicapper will need to find the positions on the greens which will offer a realistic opportunity of a birdie. Fun, family, holiday golf at its very best.
