The Strathtyrum opened in 1993 and is the shortest of St Andrews Links’ 18 Hole courses. Strathtyrum’s bunkers have been strategically located to provide potentially game-changing hazards at every hole, while the greens can also pose a challenge to the unprepared golfer.
However, this is a course that was primarily designed for enjoyment – and Strathtyrum certainly fulfils that requirement for the many golfers who play there regularly or during a visit to the Home of Golf.
The tee shot should be aimed to the left half of the fairway. Shared with the 17th, the severe mounding around the green will deflect any misjudged approach.
