Regarded as one of Scotland’s purest Links courses, Leven Links features rolling fairways, fast putting surfaces and pot bunkers.

Leven Links is one of the oldest golf courses in the world. Initially, golf was played on nine holes amongst the ‘bents, sandhills and windlestraie’ of the sandy grazing ground bordering Leven Beach. In 1868, following input from Old Tom Morris, Leven Links opened - the first course with 18 separate greens and 18 separate tees. The exhibition match held to celebrate the occasion was won by 17-year-old Open Winner, Young Tom Morris.

A six-time Open Championship final qualifying venue, Leven Links has stood the test of time and continues to host leading amateur events and international matches to this day.

Table

HOLE 1 PAR 4. S.I. 10/5

A solid opening hole where depending on the direction of the wind par is a good score. A drive down the centre or slightly right of the fairway leaves you with a mid iron to the middle of the large undulating plateau green which is set some twenty yards on top of the ridge.

Prepare to play our course

The fairways run along the valleys, between ancient sand dunes, providing superb definition and a true test of links golf as the slopes and bounces of these natural obstacles come into play throughout the round.

Bring your putting ‘A Game’.

On the front 9 holes, the course has out of bounds to the right – left is good!

The Short Game at Leven Links is not always about hitting high and stopping short. Bump and runs are key at Leven, especially during a dry summer.

what golfers say

Leven offers the ultimate test of links golf in all its glory.

Tom Irwin, National Club Golfer

A great little true links course that's slightly quirky in places but none the worse for it. It's easy to dismiss this little gem given the other more famous courses in the area, however, I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Simon W, Tripadvisor

We really enjoyed playing this course. So many interesting holes and it is a fair test. The members were incredibly friendly and helpful. The views of the water and the community of Largo are impressive. We would definitely play this course again.
