Designed by the legendary Old Tom Morris in 1879, this tremendous Championship course enjoys a reputation as one of the finest inland layouts in the British Isles.

Ladybank has hosted final Open qualifying on seven occasions since 1978 and will once again play an important part in The Open Championship when it returns to St Andrews in 2027.

With its narrow, pine-tree lined fairways and small, often contoured, greens, Ladybank was recently Ranked No 2 in Great Britain's Top 100 Courses under £100 while its glorious heathland turf is widely-considered some of the best to play anywhere in the world.

Not a course for the faint-hearted – but once played, never forgotten.

Our guide to getting the best out of your round

Ridge

HOLE 1 PAR 4. S.I. 11/9

The ideal tee shot favours the left hand side of the fairway to avoid being blocked out by the trees. The ridge short of the green can make the second shot appear deceptive - club selection is important. There is a blind bunker that sits at the back right of the green.

Prepare to play our course

When playing the first 6 holes, it’s best to favour the left side of the fairway off the tee.

We have narrow fairways, with pine trees and heather - getting the ball in play off the tee is a key part to achieving a good score.

Our small undulating greens are a real feature of the course and even a short approach shot requires concentration to get the ball on the green.
