This Par 3 course on the edge of Dunfermline, once the capital of Scotland, offers a chance to play a challenging 9 holes in the Footsteps of Kings. When they were staying at nearby Dunfermline Palace, King James I (VI of Scotland) and Charles I both played golf – perhaps when visiting Pitfirrane Castle, home of the Hackett family from the 15th century until the mid-20th century.
Pitfirrane Castle is now the clubhouse for Dunfermline Golf Club and holds the title of the oldest golf clubhouse in the world – and possibly one of the grandest.
