Designed in 1895 by the master of golf himself, Old Tom Morris, Balcomie is one of Scotland's golfing gems.

A must-play course for members and visitors alike, one of the many delights of playing this historic links is the unique features of each hole. From the opening drive to the final putt, natural hollows, stone walls, shared greens and bunker-faces clad in old railway sleepers make Balcomie Links a very special golfing destination.

Balcomie Links is one of the two legendary courses under the care of Crail Golfing Society, the seventh oldest golf club in the world, with a clubhouse that has a restaurant, spike bar and fantastic sea views – and an equally fantastic reputation for friendliness and good food.

Take aim for the left hand side of the fairway to give you an optimum angle into this generous green.  Be sure to miss the large bunker at the front of green - it's a monster!

Visiting times

Winter maintenance course closures apply Nov – Mar and only one course (either Craighead Links or Balcomie Links) will be open midweek. The course that is open switches fortnightly.

 

Summary of fees

£160 per person. Day ticket rates are available for £220 per person (includes 1 round on each course).

 

Prepare to play our course

As an old-style links, Balcomie Links is an impressive use of a relatively small amount of land. The golfer with a miss left will be rewarded with staying in play most of the way round Balcomie Links. 

Keep missed shots left. 

Don’t be afraid to land approach shots short of greens.

Our Clubhouse 

The large clubhouse with restaurant and spike bar at Crail Golfing Society offers the perfect place to relax before and after a round. With views looking out over the North Sea, our catering team provide a fantastic menu with produce sourced from local businesses. The bar is well stocked to provide all customers with plenty of choice for a 19th hole drink.
