Award-winning Actor embraces Fife

Dougray said: “I fell in love with drama as a shy 14-year-old when I read Arthur Miller’s Death Of A Salesman. I was blown away by just how relevant it was in my life. My father was a salesman and although the play was written in New York by a Jewish writer, it meant so much to me and my life in Scotland that I was smitten by the idea that drama can resonate and even change people’s lives. After I read that play I knew what I wanted to do, even though I got laughed at because it was an odd thing for someone from where I came from to say.’

His love of Fife

"Fife is where I grew up and the place that shaped me. It’s a place that will always in some way be home to me. The memories I have are strong and will always stay with me. I love the place. It had everything, from a whisky factory to the greatest golf course on earth. Whenever I go back, I feel a peace and calm that warms my heart. It’s tough and gentle, all at the same time. It’s home. Being an ambassador for Fife makes me feel incredibly proud. If you gave me a choice as to where I would have liked to have been brought up, I would still choose Fife. I’m so happy to, in some small way, give voice and present this wonderful place in a positive way to the world. Fife really has everything.”

His career

Dougray has starred in both independent and studio films with over 35 films to his credit and with some of the industry’s most renowned directors as well as television, both in UK and America.

Dougray has appeared in many films from studio block busters to independents. Amongst his credits are : Twin Town, Ever After, This Year’s Love, Mission Impossible II, Enigma, Ripley’s Game, To Kill a King, Dark Water, United, My Week With Marilyn and most recently Taken 3.

Amongst His Television Credits: Hemlock Grove for Netflix, Desperate Housewives for ABC, Heist NBC, False Witness Ion TV, The Ten Commandments for ABC amongst others notably Strikeback for Cinemax, Day of the Triffids for BBC, The Wrong Mans for BBC and Father and Son ITV in which he received rave reviews. He’s also starred in To the Green Fields Beyond directed by Sam Mendes at the Donmar Warehouse and Becket, directed by John Caird at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.
