David Jones - Chippendale on the Links - Thomas Chippendale the Elder’s Patrons in North East Fife and their connections with the Golfing Society.
We welcome David Jones to explore the important connections between celebrated eighteenth century cabinet maker, Thomas Chippendale, and our local area. David’s talk will introduce the characters who subscribed to Chippendale’s famous furniture pattern book and investigate their sometimes surprising relationships with golf.
David Jones taught Furniture History at the University of St Andrews for thirty years, publishing widely on the subject. He is now retired and continues to research, write and lecture on subjects closer to home in the East Neuk of Fife. He has recently made a study of sixteenth century carving in the East Neuk and has researched the patrons of Thomas Chippendale the Elder in North East Fife.
Doors open at 6.30pm, with refreshments available in the learning room. The lecture will begin at 7pm. Tickets cost £10.
