Beach of Dreams: Julie Brook in Conversation – A Circle Conversation (Art, Coastlines and Creative Change)
Largo Communities Together warmly invites you to an evening of inspiration and conversation with renowned artist Julie Brook, as part of the UK-wide creative programme Beach of Dreams, presented by Kinetika.
This event will centre around a special presentation by Julie Brook, whose work is internationally celebrated for its deep connection to landscape, natural materials and place. Julie will share her creative journey as the commissioned artist for Beach of Dreams in Fife, offering insight into the development of her ambitious new tidal sculpture, which will emerge from her walks along the coast and meaningful engagement with local communities.
Through images, reflections and storytelling, she will explore how the powerful meeting of land and sea continues to shape her practice – and how art can offer new ways of seeing and caring for our environment.
Following her presentation, Julie will be joined in an open circle discussion with:
– Jeremy Harris (Fife Coast & Countryside Trust)
– Rory McPhee ( of Lindor Forest, sculptor and boatbuilder)
– Cally Nurse (Artist, researcher, and seaweed enthusiast)
they will delve into the role of creativity in climate conversations, the influence of coastal landscapes on artistic expression, and how community and culture can shape a shared vision for the future.
This event is part of Beach of Dreams, a major UK-wide programme connecting communities through walks, artworks, and local actions to celebrate and reimagine the future of our coastlines.
